Kennebecasis police force names next chief

The Kennebecasis Regional Police Force has named its next chief.

Mike Young will take over the force’s top role as of March 24.

He will replace Steve Gourdeau, who is retiring after nearly 3.5 years as chief.

Young is an inspector with the Saint John Police Force who is currently serving as acting deputy chief.

He has more than 26 years of service in various leadership and supervisory roles within the force.

Young has managed major crime, street crime, family protection and forensic identification units.

His work experience spans roles such as staff sergeant, commander of emergency tactical services, and participation in a United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Haiti.
