It might be tempting to just shovel your front walkway and call it a day, but Platoon Chief Mike Boyle of the Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department is reminding you that you should be clearing snow from all of your emergency exits.
He says they want to make sure that number one, residents have a fire escape plan, and number two, that their plan is still going to work based on all the snow that we’ve had.
Boyle says there’s a few concerns they’ve had with this amount of snow falling on the region including fire hydrants being covered with snow. If there’s a hydrant on or near your property they ask that you dig it out so it’s usable.
As well – another concern with the snow and the way it builds up and drifts is whether or not your house number is visible – they ask you make sure that number is cleared off.
