A brave 16 year old telling the story of his aunt’s murder before an assembly at KV High during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Javan Poirier tells CHSJ News about the day he learned of his aunt Tanya Shand’s death in May of 2013.
He says his first thought was she died in a car accident and then he was told that her ex-boyfriend has killed her.
He says from there is surreal, shades of grey all day.
Jennifer Couglan also told her story of abuse at the hands of a boyfriend.
He was so controlling that he insisted on colouring her hair so she didn’t go out and spend time with other people.
