Large System Brings Heavy Snow, Ice Pellets and More

A mixed bag of weather cancelling school today, closing businesses and forcing transit buses off the roads.

The heavy snow from this morning changed to ice pellets and we may also see freezing rain, rain and the winds will pick up.

Environment Canada meteorologist Jill Mapea says a lot of people are in the same boat with this weather.

“It’s a very large storm affecting all of the Maritimes. P.E.I. is experiencing similar conditions to New Brunswick, Northern Nova Scotia is experiencing quite a bit of snow but further south it’s changing over to rain.” Mapea says.

Mapea says the precipitation will wrap up early tonight as conditions improve across the province from west to east.

While some travel advisories are being lifted in the region, the RCMP and several local police forces are encouraging drivers to avoid travel today.
