Bruce Connell is back in familiar territory but some of the players have changed.
The new interim police chief in Saint John started the job on Tuesday and he’s coming back after retiring three years ago. He also served as deputy chief.
Connell tells CHSJ News as the chief the most important person is his executive assistant.
“She’s given me a lot of good information and that’s a very important rapport to have,” Connell says, “from there I met with our two senior managers in operations and Major Crime.”
We asked him if a couple of years away from policing helps him with this new role and he tells us “absolutely.”
Connell wrapped up his first day at the police commission meeting and he tells us it’s an entirely new group from when he used to serve there as deputy chief.
