The Saint John Harbour riding is being called one to keep a close eye on during the election and now one candidate is suggesting an opponent is in a conflict of interest.
NDP Leader Jennifer McKenzie says Liberal candidate Gerry Lowe and another Liberal candidate, John McKenzie, should be stepping out of their council seats during the campaign.
But Lowe says other councillors, including a deputy mayor, have run in the past so he really doesn’t see an issue here.
“I’ve had nobody in my riding tell me to step down or step away and if the law had said I would have, but no one has done it before,” says Lowe.
The other candidates in Saint John Harbour are Wayne Dryer for the Green party and Barry Ogden for the Progressive Conservatives.
