Liberals share hopes for upcoming provincial budget

As Finance Minister Ernie Steeves prepares to table the fifth budget of the Higgs government.

The official opposition has revealed what it hopes will be in the 2023-2024 document.

Liberal Finance Critic René Legacy says, “Team Higgs is improving their own bottom line while the people of New Brunswick continue to suffer.
That’s not a strategy that makes sense for long-term growth

Liberal Leader Susan Holt adds this budget needs to show them that they have started listening to New Brunswickers and will take action on what’s needed.

“Businesses, community organizations and New Brunswickers all understand that for our province to thrive people need basic necessities like access to healthcare, affordable housing, food and heating, quality education, and a clean and safe environment. Stakeholders and people around the province are sharing their priorities and putting out great ideas, and they deserve to know what the Government’s plan is to act on them,” Holt says.

The provincial budget will be handed down on Tuesday.
