Loaded Shotgun Found After Crash: Police

Saint John police say they found a loaded shotgun in a vehicle after an early morning crash.

Officers were called to a single-vehicle crash in Broad Street in the south end around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

“The vehicle had collided with a concrete barrier on Broad Street and sustained extensive damage,” police said in a news release.

According to police, an officer observed a shotgun in the vehicle, which was later determined to be loaded.

The 30-year-old man driving the vehicle was arrested for weapons offenses. He was held in custody pending a court appearance.

Police said the accused was checked over by paramedics but was not transported to the hospital.
