A lockdown was ordered at the Dorchester Penitentiary this week.
It was put into place on Monday afternoon….in order for a search to be done of the medium security unit.
A news release states that it is being done to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff and inmates. Normal operations are expected to resume as soon as it is considered safe to do so.
Regularly scheduled visits to the institution have been suspended until the search is completed.
