Longtime Saint John Broadcaster And Municipal Politician Passes Away

Fellow broadcasters, fans and friends are mourning the sudden passing of longtime Saint John broadcaster Tom Young at the age of 75.

Young and his wife, Diana moved to Newfoundland in 2011 to be closer to family.

He hosted Talk of the Town on CFBC radio for 28 years until the year 2000. He then moved on to work for Maritime Broadcasting and then for the former Rogers all news station in Saint John, hosting an afternoon talk show. Young began his radio career in West Germany with the Canadian Armed Forces.

Young also was a municipal politician, serving as mayor of the village of Renforth before amalgamation with the town of Rothesay and then as a town councillor in Rothesay.

Friends and family have taken to social media to express their sympathies.
