Longtime Saint John newspaperman Fred Hazel has died in his late 80’s after a lengthy illness.
His career lasted six decades and took him all over the world to report before retiring in 1992 as editor-in-chief at the Telegraph-Journal and Evening Times Globe.
Hazel did most of his journalism in Saint John but also reported from Europe, including the Vatican, Asia and the Middle East.
Funeral arrangements are in the hands of Castle Funeral Home on Lancaster Avenue. Visitation will take place tonight from 7 to 9.
