Major construction on Garden Street this summer

Residents in the Garden Street area of Saint John will face traffic headaches this summer.

The city is undertaking major work along Garden Street between City Road and Coburg Street.

According to city officials, the work is scheduled to begin in May and continue until October.

Construction will include water, sanitary and storm sewer upgrades, along with street reconstruction.

“This project will have a considerable impact on traffic and residents in this area during construction,” said a staff report.

“There will be long-term lane closures, detours and a full closure of Garden Street between Hazen and Coburg streets.”

As a result, the city is holding a public information session so community members can learn more about the work and give feedback.

It will take place at Grace Presbyterian Church from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
