Major Traffic Disruptions Begin On East Side

Major traffic disruptions will be starting today because of construction needed for the clean drinking water project.

Loch Lomand Road from Westmorland Road to McDonald Street where Loch Lomand Mall and City Transit are located will be closed to traffic for 60 days.

The eastbound lane on Loch Lomand Road from Hickey Road to Bon Accord will be closed for 6 months and upon occasion traffic in both directions will be stopped altogether. Businesses in that area around Hickey Road have expressed concerns about a loss of customers. The suggestion has been made to do the work at night but Deputy Mayor Shirley McAlary warns there’s a problem with that with nearby homes and the fact most people work during the day and sleep at night.

Champlain Drive as you approach the intersection at Loch Lomand Road will be reduced to two lanes of traffic in either direction beginning today for 7 weeks from 6:30 in the morning until 9 at night. Drivers are being warned of heavy truck traffic until the first week of June.
