Majority Of Reissued Property Tax Bills Have Been Lowered

Over 90 percent of property tax bills that had the “flawed” formula applied, which resulted in inflated assessments, have been reissued with the majority going down after being reviewed.

That’s according to Service New Brunswick, who have reissued just under 1900 bills to property owners since the beginning of the month.

93 percent of reissued bills went down, 6 percent stayed the same, and 1 percent increased.

Over 16,000 property owners asked for a review of their property tax bills and Service New Brunswick has processed 23 percent of those requests.

Due to the high number of requests, Service New Brunswick is hoping all property tax reviews will be complete by later this year, or early 2018.

Property owners who would like to have their request for review decision appealed will have 21 days to do so.
