The promoters of “Saint Awesome” spending time in the nation’s capital this month reminding the powers that be that we have and can host major sporting events.
It’s been two years since the Port City hosted the Ford World Women’s Curling Event at Habour Station.
Discover Saint John’s Victoria Clarke says the national sporting events are extremely lucrative for the host city.
She says if we are talking about national events that would attract people from around the province and beyond that would want to come watch the event generating
airport, restaurant, hotel and taxi traffic.
Clarke says she was recently in Ottawa for the Canadian Sports Tourism Alliance–which includes the national bodies for sports organizations across the country.
