Man Arrested After Alleged Assault

The Saint John Police Force says it is investigating an alleged assault in the city’s north end.

Officers responded to an incident involving family members on Hawthorne Avenue around 1:23 a.m. Thursday.

“One person sustained an injury to their head allegedly caused by a weapon. They were treated by paramedics at the scene,” police said in a news release.

Police said a 29-year-old man was arrested nearby, but noted that the victim is not cooperating with the investigation.

Meanwhile, emergency crews also responded to a workplace incident on King Street West around 9:18 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said one employee was taken to the hospital with an injury to their hand. WorkSafeNB is investigating.
