Man arrested after allegedly fleeing police while impaired

A Kingston Peninsula man has been arrested after police said he fled from officers while driving impaired.

RCMP said they tried to stop a vehicle with a burnt-out headlight in Carter’s Point around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday.

“The driver fled from police in a dangerous manner and officers did not pursue,” police said in a news release Friday.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle a second time near Hampton but it allegedly continued to evade officers.

The vehicle was located near Quispamsis a short time later and the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force used a spike belt.

RCMP said the vehicle then travelled to Rothesay, where a man was arrested without further incident.

A 40-year-old man from Bayswater is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face charges.
