Saint John police say a 37-year-old man is facing charges after a pickup truck was stolen from a construction site.

Police were called to a construction site on Garden Street just before 12:30 p.m. Monday, according to a news release.

Investigators say the truck was parked with its lights flashing when a man jumped in and drove off.

Officers used GPS to track the vehicle and found it abandoned of Loch Lomond Road.

About 10 minutes after the theft was reported, a man matching the suspect’s description was arrested while walking along Bayside Drive.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday to face charges of motor vehicle theft and driving while prohibited.
