Man arrested after Grand Bay-Westfield firearm incident

A Grand Bay-Westfield man has been arrested after a firearm-related incident in the town.

RCMP responded to a report of a man with a firearm on River Valley Drive around 5:25 p.m. Thursday.

Officers identified a person of interest and arrested an 18-year-old man near his parked vehicle.

A firearm was also seized as part of the investigation, according to police. No one was hurt.

The man was later released on conditions pending a future court appearance.

Police said they believe the incident was isolated and there was no danger to the general public.
