Man arrested after motor scooter stolen in St. George

Police have arrested a 38-year-old after a motor scooter was stolen in St. George.

Officers responded to a residence on Brunswick Street on the afternoon of Aug. 27.

Two days later, an officer on patrol saw the scooter travelling on Route 1 near Pennfield.

“The suspect abandoned the scooter and attempted to flee the area on foot, but was quickly arrested at the scene,” said an RCMP news release.

“Subsequent to the arrest, the man was also found to be wanted on a warrant of committal.”

The man, of no fixed address, was arrested for possession of stolen property and flight from police.

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on a later date.
