Man Arrested After Police Recover Stolen Vehicle

Saint John police say a man is facing charges following an incident involving a stolen vehicle from the Sussex area.

In a news release, police said they received reports of a speeding vehicle driving erratically on Route 1 westbound just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.

A patrol officer soon spotted the vehicle driving on the train tracks between Douglas Avenue and Chesley Drive, they said.

Police said the driver took off on foot but was taken into custody by officers nearby.

Robert Williams is facing several charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, and flight from police.

The 42-year-old man made his first court appearance on Wednesday. He has a bail hearing set for Thursday afternoon.
