Man Arrested After Rothesay Firearms Incident

Kennebecasis regional police say a man has been arrested after a firearms incident near a Rothesay apartment building.

Police say they received several calls about someone discharging a firearm in the area of Gondola Point Road and Miller Park Drive early Friday.

Officers secured the area and arrested a suspect in a nearby apartment several hours later.

Police say a vehicle and a firearm believed to have been used in the incident were also seized.

Shane William King, 31, appeared in court Saturday and was charged with possessing a firearm, contrary to a prohibition order.

King is expected to face more charges when he returns to court Monday, including careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

No injuries have been reported.
