Saint John police say a 19-year-old man is expected to appear in court on Monday to answer to a charge of aggravated assault.
The charge stems from an altercation on the Market Square Boardwalk around 11:30 p.m. on Friday.
Police say a 19-year-old man struck a 54-year-old man during an argument, and he then collapsed and struck his head.
He was transported to the Saint John Regional Hospital in critical condition.
The Major Crime Unit is investigating the incident.
