Man arrested for murder in Christmas Eve death

One person has been arrested for murder after a Christmas Eve death in Saint John.

Police announced Thursday that a 26-year-old man was taken into custody earlier in the day.

He remains behind bars and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday to face charges.

Police received a report of a severely injured woman laying on Lancaster Avenue around 4 a.m. on Dec. 24.

The victim, identified as 30-year-old Nicsy Arboleda Rodriguez, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators confirmed Thursday that the victim and the accused were known to one another.
