The RCMP have arrested a 40-year-old man after an alleged sexual assault incident involving a child in Mundleville, near Rexton.

Officers responded to a report of the incident on Monday and, the following day, located and arrested the man at a residence on Route 495 in Mundleville without incident.

Police say the same man may have committed similar offences against others and are actively working to identify any additional victims.

Multiple charges have been laid, including:

  • Sexual assault on a person under the age of 16

  • Sexual assault causing bodily harm

The man appeared in court on Wednesday and remains in custody. A bail hearing is scheduled for Friday.
