Man arrested in uptown Saint John robbery

A 34-year-old man has been charged with robbery after a man was allegedly assaulted and had his phone stolen.

Saint John police said the incident happened on Union Street in the city’s uptown around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

The victim went to a nearby business to call police and was able to describe the suspect.

Officers located and arrested the suspect not far away from where the incident happened.

The accused appeared in court on Monday for a bail hearing.

Police said the victim suffered minor injuries.
