Saint John police have arrested a man who they say was carrying a loaded firearm uptown.

Undercover officers spotted a man in the Charlotte Street area just before 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Police said the man was carrying a small bag that officers believed had a firearm.

A 39-year-old was taken into custody and police seized a loaded and prohibited firearm.
