Man Charged For Refusing To Provide Breath Sample

Saint John police say they were made aware of a possible impaired driver shortly after 10 p.m. on Sunday night.

The vehicle was pulled over at the intersection of Somerset Street and Paradise Row.

Police were told a Jeep Wrangler was weaving back and forth heading westbound on Route 1.

A 53-year-old man was charged with refusal to provide a breath sample on an approved screening device.

In a news release, police said this is the same penalty as a charge of impaired driving.

The man was charged with refusal and released with a future court date.

Members of the public are reminded to report impaired driving by calling (506) 648-3333 and, in an emergency, call 911.
