Man Charged In 2016 Homicide Returns To Court

A 57-year-old man charged in the death of a Saint John woman five years ago will go directly to trial.

The case involving Mark Andrew Carty appeared before a Saint John provincial court judge on Monday.

Court staff told our newsroom that the matter was sent directly to the Court of Queen’s Bench.

Carty was arrested and charged in July with second-degree murder in the death of Tammy Boratynec.

The body of the 43-year-old woman was found in the backyard of a home on Melrose Street in east Saint John on July 17, 2016.

Carty is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 7.
