Man Charged With Second Degree Murder In Death of Young Girl

A 36-year-old Dalhousie area man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a young girl more than 11 years ago.

James Paul Turpin appeared in Burton Provincial Court today.

RCMP say 2-year-old Kennedy Corrigan died of a massive brain injury in April 2014 and new evidence in the case prompted the charge to be laid.

Police allege that Kennedy was in Turpin’s care at the time and don’t believe anyone else was involved in her death.

Turpin is being held in custody and returns to court on June 22.
