Man dead, teen arrested after northern N.B. crash

A pedestrian has died and a 17-year-old has been arrested after an alleged hit-and-run collision in northern New Brunswick.

Emergency crews responded to a collision involving a pedestrian in Bois-Joli around 6:40 p.m. Thursday, according to Mounties.

“The victim, a 77-year-old man, had been struck by a vehicle which then fled, and died at the scene as a result of his injuries,” RCMP said in a news release on Friday.

Police said the driver of the vehicle turned themselves in to police shortly after the incident and was arrested.

They were later released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Bois-Joli is located between Campbellton and Charlo.
