UPDATED: Man Dies After ATV Strikes Moose

A 66-year-old man from Jeffries Corner has died after the all-terrain vehicle he was on struck a moose near Fundy National Park.

Sgt. Jim MacPherson of the Sussex RCMP said they received a call just after 5 p.m. Wednesday about an injured woman being found in the area of Goose Creek Road — an ATV trail near Martin Head.

The woman told police she and a man had been on an ATV when the collision happened in a wooded area sometime the night before.

Police and firefighters found the ATV and the man’s body shortly before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, said MacPherson.

He said the woman was taken to the Saint John Regional Hospital with undetermined injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
