Man dies after vehicle strikes pole in Moncton

A 23-year-old man has died after his vehicle hit a power pole in Moncton, according to police.

First responders were called to Morton Avenue and Pascal-Poirier Street around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

RCMP said the driver of the vehicle died at the scene from his injuries.

The passenger, a 19-year-old man, suffered what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Morton Avenue was closed between University Avenue and McLaughlin Drive for about two hours.
