A Fredericton man has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to child pornography offences, according to the RCMP.
Police said the man appeared in Fredericton Provincial Court on August 19 and pleaded guilty to the following offences:
- Possession of child pornography
- Transmission of child pornography
- Luring a child he believed to be under the age of 18 to commit an offence
- Luring a child he believed to be under the age of 16 to commit an offence
- Failure to comply with an undertaking
The court sentencing occurred on November 21.
The RCMP said the investigation began in July 2024 after information was received from the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre.
A search warrant was executed at a Fredericton residence in February 2025, where the man was arrested, and electronic devices were seized.
Investigators said support from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida helped lay additional charges.
“This is a good example of how we can partner with other agencies to achieve successful outcomes in criminal investigations,” said Cst. Martine Losier‑Roy of the New Brunswick RCMP.
The man will also be required to provide a DNA sample, be listed on the National Sex Offender Registry for 20 years, and is prohibited from possessing firearms for 10 years.
After his release, he must follow court‑ordered conditions, including not communicating with anyone under 16 and avoiding places where minors are known to be, for a period of 10 years.
The RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit, which includes members of the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, led the investigation.
Police are urging anyone with information about similar crimes to contact their local detachment or Canada’s national tip line.
