Man in hospital after alleged assault uptown

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after an alleged assault in uptown Saint John, according to police.

Saint John police said they responded to a fight that had occurred on Princess Street near Water Street around 1:45 a.m. Sunday.

Officers who arrived on the scene found an injured 44-year-old man laying on the sidewalk.

“The man was transported and remains in hospital with serious injuries,” police said in a news release late Sunday afternoon.

Police made no mention of whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

But they are looking for witnesses or anyone in the area that has photographs or video of the alleged assault to contact them.
