Man killed in crash near Sussex

An 85-year-old man has died after police say his car and a pickup truck collided near Sussex.

First responders were called to Route 10 in Berwick, just outside of the town, around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

“The crash is believed to have occurred when a pickup truck, travelling northbound, struck a car, also travelling northbound,” RCMP said in a news release on Wednesday.

The victim, who was from the nearby community of Keirstead Mountain, died at the scene from his injuries.

Police said the driver and sole occupant of the pickup suffered what were believed to be minor physical injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
