Man sentenced in St. Stephen assault

A Québec man who assaulted another man in St. Stephen has been sentenced to jail time.

Officers were called to a report of an assault with a weapon on Milltown Boulevard on April 30.

Police say a 40-year-old man was treated in the hospital for injuries and later released.

Christopher Wilmot, 25, of Listuguj, who arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm and breach of condition.

On July 25, Wilmot was sentenced to six months in jail, but with a remand credit of 129 days, he will only spend another 51 days behind bars.

He will also handed 12 months of supervised probation with conditions, which include no contact with the victim.
