Man’s body found along Saint John River

Saint John police say criminality is not suspected after a body was found along the Saint John River over the weekend.

Police said a cyclist located a body on the shoreline of Harbour Passage near the bottom of Bentley Street around 8:20 a.m. Saturday.

“It is believed that the deceased body had washed ashore from the Saint John River,” the police force said in a news release on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as a 42-year-old man. His name is not being released at the request of his family.

An autopsy has since been performed and investigators said the man’s death does not appear to be criminal in nature.
