Maritime communities among best to rent in Canada: report

Several Maritime communities are among the best places in Canada for renters.

That is according to a new report released this week by international real estate search website Point2.

Fredericton came in seventh place, Saint John placed eighth, Moncton 14th, Halifax 17th, and Cape Breton 23rd.

Cities were ranked based on three different categories: economy and housing, quality of life and community.

The report looked at 24 different metrics, such as average rent, housing costs, rental availability, unemployment rate, stress levels, life satisfaction and sense of community.

St. John’s, Nfld., was the number one city, followed by the Québec communities of Sherbrooke and Québec City.

In fact, Québec led the report with a total of seven cities in the top 10 best places for renters.
