Mask Mandates To End May 6th In PEI

Mask mandates will come to an end on May 6th for Prince Edward Island, but there will be exceptions.

High-risk areas including hospitals, long-term and community care homes, public transit, and students and staff on buses and when not seated in class will still be required to wear masks.

On April 28th, COVID-19 screening and voluntary testing will stop at the Confederation Bridge.

“We are beginning to see a downward trend in daily new cases and hospitalizations. We need to keep wearing masks for a bit longer to be sure the positive trends are sustained. Even when the broad mask mandate is lifted next week, our office will strongly recommend that Island residents and visitors continue to wear a mask in indoor public places,” says PEI’s Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Heather Morrison

Over the past 25 months, around 1.6 million people have been screened at the points of entry to PEI.
