Mayor Hoping Common Council Gets Back On Track

Mayor Mel Norton is worried Common Council might get sidetracked because of the controversy over he and Deputy Mayor Shelley Rinehart taking a free flight to Fredericton on a J-D Irving plane to attend the State of the Province Address.

Norton says there’s stil a lot to do before the next municipal election to move ther city forward with no room for petty bickering.

There was no back and forth discussion about conflicts of interest at Friday’s special meeting of Common Council.

Councillors did vote unanimously in favour of the status quo instead of attempting to change the Municipalities Act.
