The mayor is trying something new at this year’s Uptown Sparkles: the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Ornament Exchange. The tree lighting will take place at 6:00 p.m., and the public is encouraged to arrive a little early ~5:30 p.m.to enjoy hot chocolate, take in the holiday atmosphere, and participate in the ornament exchange.
Residents are invited to bring an ornament that reflects their family, traditions, or creativity, and exchange it for one on the tree. The mayor will place the first few ornaments, and the community is encouraged to help fill the branches, including families, individuals, and local businesses.
This community-wide exchange celebrates the diversity, culture, and connection that make Saint John unique.
