Medical Society Pleased With Health Plan

The president of the New Brunswick Medical Society says they are strongly encouraged by the province’s new health plan.

Dr. Mark MacMillan said they believe it is a transformative step forward for the health system, and for the health and well-being of New Brunswickers.

“The NBMS is prepared to work with government and allied healthcare partners on the implementation and execution of the health plan,” MacMillan wrote in a statement.

The 16-page plan, released on Wednesday, contains more than three dozen priorities to be completed over the next two years.

That includes finding everyone a primary care physician and reducing surgical wait times by half.

MacMillan said the plan addresses many of the same opportunities and challenges they captured in their 57 recommendations to improve the health system.
