Military Training In Rockwood Park On Sunday

Don’t be surprised to see soldiers in uniform in Saint John’s Rockwood Park on Sunday.

Reservists from 3rd Field Artillery Regiment (The Loyal Company), RCA will conduct annual winter navigation training around the Fisher Lake area.

The exercise will provide local reservists with a chance to train outdoors in challenging winter conditions and put their orienteering and navigation skills to the test.

Park users can also expect to see a slight increase in military and civilian traffic during the training.

“This should not have a significant impact on civilians in the area,” the Canadian Armed Forces said in a news release.

The exercise, which will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., will involve about 16 personnel from 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, according to a news release from the city.

Rockwood Park will remain fully open to the public, and no weapons or firearms will be used in the training.
