UPDATE: Missing Man Located By Searchers, Say RCMP

New Brunswick RCMP say a missing 68-year-old man from Grand Bay-Westfield was located safe on Friday.

Cpl. Jullie Rogers-Marsh confirmed that Douglas Keleher was found in a remote wooded area by Ground Search and Rescue.

“He was taken to the hospital,” Rogers-Marsh said in an email Friday evening, adding that more details will be released Saturday.

In a news release on Saturday, police said Keleher was found around 6 p.m. Friday about 300 metres from Crandall Road in Nerepis. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Keleher was reported missing to Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP on Thursday, which prompted a search of the area.

Police initially said he had last been seen at a residence on Kirtley Avenue the night before, but later said they received new information that suggested he may have been walking near Brittain Road in Nerepis sometime on Thursday morning.

Investigators said Keleher has a medical condition that can cause him to appear lost or confused and that there was concern for his well-being.

Several agencies and volunteers took part in the search including the Grand Bay-Westfield Volunteer Fire Rescue, RCMP Air Services, New Brunswick EMO, the Department of Natural Resources, and Ground Search and Rescue teams.
