Missing Saint Andrews Man Found Dead In Maine

Police say the body of a missing New Brunswick man has been found in the state of Maine.

Maine State Police say a body was discovered along a beach in Robbinston on Tuesday afternoon.

The community is located just across the water from the town of Saint Andrews.

Investigators have since identified the man as 64-year-old Richard Warnell of Saint Andrews.

Troopers said Warnell was the subject of a missing person investigation by the RCMP.

“As there is no indication that Mr. Warnell died in the State of Maine, the RCMP will now become the lead agency in the investigation and further questions should be directed to them,” said Maine State Police in a news release.

RCMP Sgt. Chris Henderson confirmed they were investigating a report of a missing 64-year-old man who was last seen on the afternoon of July 2.

Henderson said the man’s body was located in Maine on July 7. He would not confirm the identity of the man, citing RCMP policy.

He said RCMP are currently investigating the man’s passing as a “sudden death” but are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine exactly how he died.
