The Town of St. Stephen seems to be upbeat, as of late, with at least half a dozen businesses set to open within the year.
Charlotte-Campobello MLA John Ames says its fabulous, as we haven’t seen this much growth in a very long time. “In the last couple of decades, certainly in my lifetime, I haven’t seen a whole lot of growth, on this magnitude, in such a short period of time.”
Ames says the downtown area has been struggling for awhile, and it’s nice to see a turn around.
He says he is happy to see people are coming together to support these businesses, as well as having a new sense of entrepreneurial spirit within the town.
Some of the new businesses set to open are Giant Tiger, Pita Pit, CarStar, and the new Irving by the traffic circle. Picaroons will be opening up shop in the old train station (formerly known as the Visitor Information Centre) with a tentative opening date this spring. The new VIC will be built at the new Irving location, closer to the highway.
