The 49 MLAs elected to the New Brunswick legislature two weeks ago have now been sworn in.
Lieutenant-Governor Brenda Murphy presided over Monday afternoon’s ceremony at the legislature.
All 49 members, including several rookie MLAs, took their turn reading the oath of allegiance
But the ceremony looked quite different than usual due to restrictions caused by COVID-19.
The MLAs were brought into the legislature in small groups, rather than all at once, to be administered the oath.
All were wearing masks and sat physically-distanced from one another on the floor of the legislature.
The 60th legislature is made up of 27 Progressive Conservatives, 17 Liberals, three Greens and two People’s Alliance members.
Progressive Conservative Premier Blaine Higgs is expected to announce the members of his new cabinet on Tuesday.
