Moncton Region Has One New Case Of COVID-19

One new case of COVID-19 is being reported in New Brunswick today and it is in the Moncton region (Zone 1).

Public Health says a temporary foreign worker in their thirties has tested positive for the virus and they had been self-isolating.

Meantime, the Fredericton region (Zone 3) currently has 11 active cases and investigations are ongoing.

Officials say most cases are either directly travel-related or linked to someone who has travelled outside the Atlantic bubble or internationally.

Individual cases and their close contacts are currently self-isolating.

“As people continue to travel outside the Atlantic bubble, we will see sporadic cases of COVID-19 in New Brunswick,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health.

“We are seeing a higher risk of transmission in households; therefore, it is important for individuals to follow the proper self-isolation guidelines.”

The number of active cases has fallen to 21 in New Brunswick.
