Moncton’s Field of Dreams is currently the only accessible baseball field in Atlantic Canada but that could change in the near future.
Opened a few weeks ago, the field features artificial turf, accessible dugouts, expanded bleachers and designated drop-off areas for those with special needs.
Organizer Charline Allain Godin says her counterparts from Nova Scotia have been curious about the project and how it came to life.
“I actually got contacted by the Antigonish challenger baseball representative. So he has the same role as I do in Nova Scotia. He’s actually asked me for plans and ideas and what we had to go through,” she notes.
Allain Godin says she would eventually like to see teams in every city or town in New Brunswick and even from across Atlantic Canada.
